Creating a scrumming menu for the 6 Nations final

Back to articles

So, it won’t come as much of a surprise for us to say we’ve enjoyed the 6 Nations so far, especially as Ireland are still in with a chance of emerging victorious on that final day of the tournament; March 18th.

However, whether you’ve got a stake in who wins this tournament or not, it doesn’t mean you can’t still benefit from customers who will be keen to make an occasion of the final day, so get preparing!

In our Dates for the Diary blog, we mentioned back-to-back games and potential build up of hungry customers as a result. The way it’s currently looking, there will be a lot to play for and a lot of fans out to watch the tournament come to a close. You might not be able to influence the result, but making sure you’re on your ‘A Game’ is as close as you can come to ensuring happy customers.

Give these a try:

Keep it quick

With games at 12:30, 14:45 and 17:00, there won’t be much downtime between games. Quick to prepare, handheld food will stop any rucks at the bar by reducing queue and wait time. Our authentic Italian Twist Pizzas fit the bill, served in handheld packaging and cooking from frozen in less than three minutes.

Pair your food

Burger and a beer is the classic combo, but try experimenting with pairings that push the boat out, too. Rugby attracts so much more than the classic beer buying football spectators. Mixed groups with a greater female interest in the sport mean cocktails will prove popular. Match margaritas with Mexican light bites for a guaranteed conversion in bar sales.

Create an occasion

One of the great things about the 6 Nations is the friendly rivalry it invokes all over the UK. Decorate your venue with flags and encourage sweepstakes across each of the games for first try scorer to get everyone in the spirit for a sporting spectacle.

Make it a treat

This is a day for fans to enjoy and they won’t be afraid to treat themselves. Ditching the diet for a day, burgers are popular with all sports fans and offering additional extras like pulled pork or hand made ‘slaw will give it that something special.
