Big Al’s Satisfies Students

The Big Al’s Foodservice range of flame-cooked burgers provides a simple, worry-free way to offer food to students.

Big Al’s burgers are cooked over an open flame meaning a delicious taste is guaranteed every time, and the products are frozen which reduces waste.

They present a simple, profit-boosting way to satisfy hungry students and keep them at your establishment for longer.

“In many cases students may go straight from lectures to enjoy drinks with friends, and after a few hours they’ll be looking for something to eat,” says Kepak Foodservice’s National Account Manager Ed Robinson.  “Rather than having to cut the night short or go for an expensive meal, many will be seeking a food option that’s quick, tasty and filling. Satisfying food such as the Big Al’s range, which can be reheated from frozen much more quickly than cooking a raw product, presents the ideal solution.”

Bradford University is the perfect example of how Big Al’s can satisfy students. Following a complete refurbishment of the Student Central building, the university decided to introduce a food menu to two of its bars, The Sports Club and Amp Bar.

The bars which serve the University’s 11,000 students, operate for 30 weeks of the year and sell on average, 130 Big Al’s products each week.

Mike Wakefield, Bar & Retail Operations Manager at Student Central says:

“We wanted to provide a quality menu at affordable prices for students and we were instantly impressed by how Big Al’s could help us achieve this.

“The company worked with us to develop the right menu for our target market ensuring we got the overall concept right.  We’ve had many positive comments from students on the quality of the products, and our 50+ staff has found them very easy and quick to prepare.

“By adding Big Al’s to the menu we’ve been able to minimise wastage and increase dwell time in the bars. We’ve also found that people will spend more on drinks whilst eating so our wet profits have increased as well.”
